Fabio Zanon: Classic Guitar Solos

Brazil Guitar sensation Fabio Zanon exploded on the international scene in 1996 when he won the first prize at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Competition, just weeks after having won the first prize at the 30th Francisco Tarrega International Competition... the most prestigious Guitar contest in Europe. This was an unprecedented achievement in the Guitar world. After giving his first solo concert performance at the age of 16, Fabio Zanon continued to perform extensively in Great Britian, South America, Iberia, Italy and the United States. On this, the solo performance recording, Mr. Zanon plays Guitar compositions spanning three centuries. Anincredibly colorful and virtuistic display of Guitar techniques, moods, and temperaments is captured on this film. Compositions performed include: Sonata in A Minor by J.S. Bach (Grave, Fugue, Andante, Allegro); Revue Op. 8, No. 3 Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti; Old Song by Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez; Appassionata by Ronaldo Miranda; Sonata 11, 144, and 391 by Domenico Scarlatti; and the extremely difficult yet striking 20th Century musical essay on death by Alexandre de Faria entitled Prelude for Guitar (Eyes of a Recollection).
